I have 130,000 miles on my 80 and I think its time for plugs, wires, filters, belts, hoses-well, you guys get the point. I need to know who has the best prices on these items. Also, should I use all OEM parts? HAs anybody used Denso Iridium Plugs? or should I stick with factory plugs? -thanks

In general the best parts are OEM, especially common stuff like tune up parts belts ect that you mention, they are actually reasonably priced from Toyota and high quality,

The best source for OEM parts is CruiserDan he gives Mud users a considerable discount off list and free shipping for orders over a certain amount, (somewhere just over $100 IIRC)

AFIK the iridium plugs only offer longer life, I change my plugs often (about 30K or so) so I use the standard plugs from Dan at about $2 each and change them out regularly.

What iridium does for you is extend service intervals. OEM plugs list for $1.97 a rattle and are difficult to improve upon. If you run forced induction I recommend you drop one heat-range and use platinum plugs. The OEM MR2 turbo plug fits that bill nicely. NOTHING fits like an OEM wire set, period.

Def stick with OEM and def git on der tele with the above Cbizkit. Great prices and great service even though his avatar is some old dude trying to wake up his crotch.

I just did this and went with Cdan of course for parts. New: belts, intake hose, wires, dizzy cap, dizzy rotor and almost new iridium plugs. The difference is very noticable. I just clocked 162,000 miles and the truck drives like a new one. Very impressed.

EDIT: Why is it that most on this board recommend oem distributor as opposed to an MSD setup? Doesn't the MSD unit fire numerous times for complete combustion burn, and does the OEM unit do the same?

<<<MSD>>>
I think we are still looking for someone to try out a MSD 6 or better box.
Why don't you install one and give us a report?

MSD will give you nothing in return over OEM unless you have forced induction or some serious engine modification. MSD and other aftermarket mods are for engines that are being fed a lot more fuel than originally intended by the manufacturer. IE large cams, bored/stroked motors, bigger injectors, turbos etc.

thanks guys. c-dan ill pm ya asap :grinpimp:
