1996 Toyota Land Cruiser factory lockers turbo diesel fully custom built
Titled in California as a diesel.
I’ve owned this truck for over ten years. It was professionally converted from a domestic FZJ80 gas/auto to a turbo diesel 5-speed. The original swap was done almost 20 years ago by the foremost mechanic who pioneered this swap; the infamous Raymond Furie on Vancouver Island.
Everything works as it should; all gauges, cruise control, air conditioning etc.
Since ownership I’ve added paint/bodywork, bumpers, suspension, interior, roof rack, tent. Then I drove it all over the western states and baja; I’ve put close to 100K miles on this truck. I recently swapped in a second engine with lower miles.

Drivetrain:
Engine: Toyota 1HDFT 24-valve turbo diesel (aprox 100K miles)
injection pump and injectors rebuilt (aprox 20k and 5k miles ago)
Transmission: H150 5-speed (custom swap with h151 input shaft) aprox 50K miles. This has a lower first gear than most 5-speeds
transfer case: Custom with 10% overdrive and 3:1 low aprox 25k miles
This allows truck to cruise highway with very comfortable RPM and have a good off road crawl ratio in low (about 60:1)
turbo: Custom “G-Turbo” Grunter turbo.
Custom intercooler
3” exhaust
ARB snorkel provides engine with cleaner air on dusty roads (or stream crossings)
Factory locking differentials.
Body and frame have 300k miles, but nearly everything has been rebuilt.

Protection/suspension:
4x4Labs front bumper with Warn 8274 with synthetic rope
4x4Labs rear bumper with dual swing outs (tire and water-can/bike rack)
Hannaquality sliders
Old Man Emu springs and shocks
Rear air bags for heavy loads (eg: my dirtbike)
Heavy duty sway bars from Whiteline front and rear
315/75/16 all terrain tires on stock aluminum wheels.

Body and interior:
Fender flares and stock roof rack have been deleted, all holes professionally welded.
Headlights replaced with factory euro style quad headlights (retro look) with LED lights
Custom paint including all door jams (based on Toyota Dune Beige but with a hint of green added).
Rare Hannibal aluminum roofrack from Africa
LED light bar
Roof top Tent: Autohome Columbus. Medium width, extra long length.
(note: if you do not need the tent, I'll reduce price by $3000
Solar panel mounted to tent keeps battery charged and can power a 12-volt fridge
Front seats replaced with non-power stock seats
Front and rear seats recovered in custom dark brown leather
Front seats have seat heaters and custom sewn pockets
Cargo area has a basic aluminum drawer and power outlets for fridge
Rear cargo windows replaced with hatches with combination locks
Rear tailgate has a Wagongear brand hatch

This truck is perfect for a weekend getaway or an around the world trip. Has amazing power, good fuel economy, and extremely reliable.
