Has anyone tried or know if the TRD lid/inlet pipe for the Tundra can be used on the LC? For reference: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toyota-Tund...2014|Model:Tundra&hash=item20f593beaa&vxp=mtr

I know the filters are the same, so I assume the lid will physically fit on the airbox, but unsure on hood clearance and the inlet pipe may be different, but worst case is a little time with the welder.

Appreciate any feedback.

No, there is not enough room. There are a few pieces from the 2014+ kit that I suspect can be used to replace the the tube between the air box and throttle body. That will eliminate the resonators, possibly pick up a bit flow, and likely give a nice V8 intake growl when dipping into the throttle.

What would you actually gain in reality? The 200 is no slouch, weight and all considered.

75% of the parts to do this were back ordered last year, and the price for all of it was a bit more than I thought it should be. I'll look into again and report back.

The gains on a stock engine will be small. The real benefit will be for the ears.

A friend of mine installed the afe kit, he had a small section of the air filter box cut down for clearance. If he's got photos of it I'll post some up. I was planning on keeping the stock filter box and changing the intake pipe to get rid of the resonators.

What if we use the other portion of the the tundra air box? or is the depth overall just too small compared to the Tundra/Sequoia?

this is 0 effect crap with -$400 from your wallet , how can it be cold under the hood? use common wisdom. in order to be cold you need a snorkel, or air cooler.

Heh. Finally figured out your strong response after looking at the in the actual listing linked by the OP...where it claims it gets cooler air from the area "behind the headlight" instead of the engine compartment. Haha... AFAIC, I would consider the area behind the headlight pretty much the engine compartment! :) So ya... Seems like an extremely iffy "cold air" intake proposition. But...it does have that spiffy red TRD label! Heehee ;)

dude under headlight or under the ass will have no effect on the performance - I guarantee you , been there done that

I've got a hot air intake with my snorkel :(

Intake is at 57'c (134'f) with ambient Temps at 40'c (104'f)

Wow, I would not have thought that would be possible, 15c more Mmmm.
Is this always the case or a fluke?

Heat soak in the engine compartment of the air box?

It's hot, humid and I drive a black cruiser. I think you can fry eggs on the bonnet.

The temps started rising when I parked up in a shaded car park, I think the lack of airflow and the heat trapped between the cars and shade contributed, I'll be keeping my eye on the temps the next few days it usually doesn't run this hot you can see the radiator is at 91c as well.

I kept the throttle at 2k rpm for a few seconds and the intake + radiator temps went down by 5 degrees

Got it, black car UAE, nice oven going on while car stationary.
On a regular basis do you see a diff in temp on a regular trip with the snorkel?

Since the snorkel install intake temps have been lower usually. The intake temps are usually 4-7 degrees warmer than ambient temperature.

I'm not sure if it gets the temp readings from the maf or somewhere else.

*a little update on intake temps, temps went up to 60c in afternoon traffic today. That's 20c over outside temps. Driving home at night (1-2am) intake was 2 degrees warmer than the ambient air.
