Sounds like the shop is subbing it out and marking it up a lot..
If you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself there are several good specialty shops that support ih8mud with tech and information please support them. We are able to do a lot of stuff on our own rigs because of them sharing their knowledge.
pulling the trans and transfer is real easy, then send it off and have it rebuilt Right, by people who do them daily. reinstall fill with fluid save a lot of $$ .
Many shops can do a trans rebuild but they don’t see land cruiser stuff so they will learn on yours. not good....
Mark and George are great, they survive on reputation and they stay busy because of it..
George is close to me, met him years ago, if I needed one done he would be the one I have do it. he is honest and does quality work. Even those of us that can do it will have him do stuff because of his knowledge, and quality of work. (Some of us are ocd about our cruisers).
I don’t know Mark personally but have spared
with him here on mud for years and he is very knowledgable.
