Will the 1fz motor still work with the trans. connections disconnected?

I am no expert but I would think the motor would still run just like any other motor
Dont guys run motors out of the vehicles all the time?

Neutral Safety switch would have to be addressed. Reverse lights would be another thing.

Sorry I don't have any tech answers for you, but I would love to see what you come up with.
I think the manual 5 speed is the only thing I miss from my 93 Hilux.
