Im doing a quick "refurbish" on my case due to a split in my old one :D

basically parting a few cases together best parts blah blah. Ive done numerous rebuilds so I know whats going on.

Heres the deal, Im setting the preload on the main shaft(backlash whatever you wanna call it) and I have NO shims in the extension housing. the preload is too tight. I cant even turn the case. there are no shims in the nose cone either?

ummmmmmm.......................??????

Bearings/races are not seated properly...

:meh:

Did you mix up the sleeves? Not an expert, just an idea.

disregard!

Are the gaskets in place between the nosecone & case? Between rear bearing retainer & case?

If you are sure everything is right, but the preload is still too tight, try adding a second gasket between rear retainer & case.

maybe a bad bearing binding up

I ended up doing some fancy machining work to the extension housing. Seems to work now:rolleyes:
