Transfer case Repair (1 Viewer)

hi everyone
I have a LJ78 with swapped 1kz.. The front shaft is not locking and rest all vacuum n electric is f9. mechanic says it has some mechanical problem inside 4x4 (Trfr case I guess).
Question is that can it b repaired and will it be reliable after repair

Easiest way to ensure its not the vacuum / electrics is to remove the vac unit and manually move the rod. Then see if the drive shaft locks up. Its a pretty simple system. You should get some oil leaking out so get something to catch it and be prepared for a fluid top up.

Probably stripped the teeth off the engagement ring. Need to pull down case and inspect. Replace damaged rings / gears.
