Hey everyone, I was out on some trails today in my 91 Fj80 (3fe) and had some issues with my 4low.

When I would put it in neutral and shift into 4 low it would engage just fine but when I put it back into drive and drive about 10 feet it boots it back into neutral. Any thoughts on what it might be? I’m new to this so I don’t really know what could be wrong with it.

Side note: I recently got all my fluids changed (power steering, coolant, front and rear diffs, and t-case fluid) if that could have something to do with it

Does it have a body lift? Body lifts will cause this.
Also you could check the shift linkage adjustment.

No lifts at all. Does sound like it is the linkage from what I’ve been told. I’ll take a look at er soon and hopefully that solves it haha

You can disconnect the shift linkage and manually move the lever on the transfer case into low range. If it still pops out, then it's not the linkage.
