Transfer boot

Anyone know how I can repair my inner transfer boot? This is the rubber one, not the outer leather boot. Mine is dry rotted and torn and I don't want to pay $70 bucks for a new one! I soaked it in bleach white and got the rubber pretty pliable but now what?

Where does this attach on an FJ-40?

Yes, I was fooled too at first. Thought it was the celica.
The inner transfercase shifting boot, I believe.

I am not aware of anything that is going to repair the cracks and dry rot in your rubber boot.



Odds on, a new piece from Cdan is not going to be 70.00, and, will likely last you the rest of your life in that Land Cruiser. If you have a nice Land Cruiser, the 'investment' in a piece like this, really is not that big of a deal. You could always try and post something up in the wanted section, who knows, someone may have a decent one lying around that they are not using, and be willing to give it away...



You could always hack something together with an inner tube and some glue....

Rubber glues real well with superglue. That is how I have successfully repaired unobtanium rubber hoses, etc.
