picked up a 700r4 to drop in behind the sbc chevy im building. plan on using the stock tcase but am now in need of an adapter. have been on AA site and all i can find using their pull-down menu selectors is this :

50-8901

it mentions in the description that it is for use with the "2wd" 700r4...this ofcourse not being what i have.

can i have some guidance on everything i will need to use this tranny with my stock tcase? would be a HUGE help. i need to know about everything from the engine back to complete this install. this being my first one (if not obvious enough)

thanks all who reply!

links and suggestions appreciated

so is that all ill need?
what makes a tranny a 4wd or 2wd application anyway?

Howdy! Difference in length of tail housing, shaft diameter, and spline count. IIRC. John

so the shafdt length is shorter for the 4x and the spline count greater? just a guess....also, what else will i need? i have the motor, tranny and tcase. i need to know EVERYTHING that goes in between or on either end.
thanks inkpot!

I used the 1" Downey adapter kit, didn't want to have very short rear driveline.
Some issues with this kit as in having to trim outer lip on trans oil pan. Also have to run different output yoke on front driveline.

Check Downey site for info. I like it other than have to pull transfer case to change oil filter in the trans.
