'92 FJ80 tranny went out last summer while on vacation. I was saving $$$ to rebuild engine (286K) but now just want her up and running. Any recommendations in Dayton, OR to install rebuilt transmission?

Thank you!
Kim

A local shop can probably order/find a used tranny for $300-400. Same thing happened to me in Ogden, UT. I got a used one for $350 and had the local mech install it (total was $1100 + pizza for the mechs). When I got home I had it checked out by the toyota dlr. A quick internet search turns up many local LC sites in and around Portland. I have no idea who is the best in the area, but Land Cruiser on Portland comes up at (503) 292-4980. They may be able to point you in the right direction. No affiliation - can't vouch for them.

What's your transmission doing, slipping?? There's been some mudders with the A442F transmission who've had slipping that was caused by a couple of bad solenoids, bad connectors, bad wires. Might be worth it to look into those possible causes??

Thanks for the input!
Tranny's toast so I'll look into getting her towed to MetalTech to install a rebuild. It will be nice to have her up and running--have to save the rebuild for another time:)
