Can a tranny become damaged if the motor siezes up while driving. mine is not shifting at all into 1-4 wont even grind it grinds if you try to put it in reverse and will lurch forward when you try to start it in gear. clutch is disengaging.
 
did you swap a motor out? might have put the clutch disc in backwards.

to answer your question, not that I've ever heard, the motor causing a transmision failure.

Not likely. If it is hard to shift and grinds during gear changes, either the clutch is dragging or the pilot bearing is siezed.

How do you know the tranny has problems if your engine is "siezed"?
