After reading on here about using ATF in the oil pre change as a cleaner I went and did this.

I now find my oil pressure to be lower than before.

Is this normal?

I think maybe as I have cleaned the gallerys and now have more volume in the oil lines,

What do you all think.

either that or a piece of gunk is holding your pressure relief valve open too much....

I don't bother with doing these cleaning methods. I see no value in it. All it does is loosen crap that would have stayed dormant in the engine, and could block tiny oil sprayers and then you have a fawked bearing.

Also oil leaks could start appearing all over as sludge is displaced off gaskets. Which never would have happened till overhaul.

My issue with these old diesel engines is the soot loading in the oil will still happen and it will never "look clean" anyhow.

But of course this is just my opinion.......
