I got a new transmission cover with my cruiser, not installed, just one of the parts that came with it. How do I remove the factory heat shield/insulation from that thing? I also have the cover I just took off that isn't in bad shape at all, just a little rust at the passenger toe area. Anyone about to cut on a good one for a conversion that would rather cut this one? Free to a good home. I have pics but not downloaded yet.:hmm:

what year is the cover for/ off of? i need one in better shape then mine.

if you want to remove the rubber/tar like factory sound deadening , just chip it off with a scraper. mine came off real easy but im not sure that they all do

Ill have a picture tomorrow, I hope. Camera software is on my work computer

lay chunks of dry ice on the offending heat shield. let it sit for a few minutes, remove dry ice and whack insulation with a rubber mallet. it will easily flake off.

BTW, there are lots of variation of shapes of transmission tunnels, so best to check fit before spending alot of time on it...
