so my F350 powerstroke was having issues and i found water in the oil. the mechanic found hydro-lock, so it's a head gasket or a cracked head. it is already ugly $ wise.:bang:

I got a ride to work for the first week w/o it, but decided it would be good to get Bionic on the road so I had a vehicle of my own(FJ45 is down with carb and battery issues).

my 1st drive found I was only getting 3rd gear out of a newly rebuilt t-mission. I had a feeling it wasn't hitting first gear on the last snow run. this t-mission is shifted by the computer, so I thought it looked like it was in limp mode. the engine is running great, so it must be something with the plug or wiring. a quick look underneath and I saw the plug staring me in the face. it wasn't even plugged in...
suddenly it shifts great and has monster power! those 5.13 gears are doing their job! now I think it could use a few inches of dropped lift. it sits really high and has tons of body roll! I now remember why it's a trailer queen!

nice job! so all you had to do was stare down the plug, it must have been feeling lonely and disconnected from reality! the force is strong with this one. i'm sure i would have had to plug it in to make it work...:flipoff2::D

and it is hard to be good on the rocks AND good on the road... sounds like you need airbag suspension ;) does it have swaybars?

you guys is killin' me!

it IS fun to drive. this morning though, it started having a quick miss or stutter. once when it was idling at a light it died, but started right back up. happened about 4 times (the other 3 were at speed). now I have to figure out why it's doing that. luckily I have a computer scanner for it.

I got the 40 going instead of the 45 because it needed insurance and reg. only to be road worthy and I needed it for work the next day. the 45 parts are going to be harder to find. accelerator pump plunger for a '63 single barrel carb.

Going fast is overrated anyhow. ;)

BLASPHEMY!!!! :lol::cool:

cmon, we love spending your money for you! can't you feel it!

hmm airbags for bionic AND EFI throttle body for the 45... or just a swap... i think you need diesel... Dan, back to you...:D:grinpimp:

 i poked my head around the cover at his b-day party, but didn't look closely... i'll have to take your word for it. they never made a BJ 45?

but you know at some point you still have to get there... ;):D

the 45 is completely restored to stock. it does need to stay that way. it's worth way more $ in it's current set up.

good news is, the 40 ran perfectly all the way home today. just topped up some fluids (which is probably unrelated).:grinpimp: she really needed to be worked a bit I think.

They did make a BJ-45, but in VERY limited numbers, and never a SWB.

The vast (let me say that again: VAST) majority of diesel pickups were HJ-45s and HJ-47s.

30MPG is the new 100MPH. :grinpimp:

I bet you're right on about the truck just needing to work. Things just don't work as well when they're gummed up, and I know this applies to EFI systems as well as it does transfer cases.

for me the the funniest part was pulling into the parking lot at work and thinking 'did Aaron get his rig going? That looks like Bionic.' Didn't even recognize it til I got close. Seems much taller on the trailer.
Offered Shawn use of a 60, but he seems happy w/Bionic.:grinpimp: Too bad, my lifted rig isn't getting much use now that the snow is below 3". (Most of the week)
Or he doesn't want Jill to realize how much more roomy a wagon is, cuz then he'd hafta buy a Hundy. :p

I concur, thus the 25yo DD. That, and I'm frugal. :hillbilly:

it's already been discussed. but we don't want another vehicle. I have too many already.:D
tradja a (couple) wagons for... nevermind.

You could Rent To Own the rig my BIL flaked on (it'd be paid for if he'd got the work done )... I have plenty of room to park stuff. :hillbilly:

Aw come on. Join the club. Even David Lawrence caved and bought an 80. Speaking of that, we haven't had any kind of report or impressions from him since CM.

driving impression: coils and lockers take the sport out of wheeling.
having a lowrider brings the sport back.
except for dragging ass on everything, the ride is way better than the 40, that's what matters to the kids and a big reason I bought this beater.

got the F350 back yesterday, but not without double the projected cost.

the main issue was 2 injector cups. these are the brass inserts in the head that hold the fuel injectors. this on the worst one of the 2. the mechanic said that when he pulled out the injector, this pressed in cup came with it. it was partially melted into the cylinder area. also had many cut injector O-rings. she runs good now. tomorrow morning will see if they fixed the cold start issue.
