Well we brought this job in from a local Land Cruiser owner to clean up the previous owners conversion jobs. It took a lot longer than expected after we open this beast up, but turned out great.

Here is how it began:

The Impossible to remove steering box...Had to torch it off...

We didn't have the intentions of boxing the frame in the beginning, but with the amount we had to grind off from the previous owners drunken stick welding mess it was necessary.

Big welds to get the tapered edges

Once we put the motor back in with the new mounts, the motor sat way off with one motor mount compressed. After scratching our head for awhile we checked the rear cross member and found the mounts were WAY off!

We decided to clean that are off the frame up as well so out came the motor, tranny, and tcase. We had plans for them as well.

After Bruce(Patient owner/Cruiser fanatic) bought some new SBC parts and showing of our 60 restoration we decided a Engine restoration was the next best step :D.

Nice work Scott and Forrest and your team at Trail Outfitters. You really amazed me on how nice you could change my 76 and fix all those PO school girl welds!

Thanks!

Thanks Bruce. Plenty more pics to come. Just finished up the bumper today. Just needs paint.

nice work. If I may ask, why did you select a cast steering box mount over a plate-type?

hey, Scott

I like that front bumper. You fab that yourself?

Thanks you. Yes we built it ourselves. Very simple design, but turned out clean.

yep

I'm gonna steal that design for both my pig and the Cornmobile, if you don't mind.
