And for what it’s worth, I retract what I said on earlier in this thread about the steering links being a fuse. Two twisted sector shafts later, and @inkpot twisting one as well, all on OE steering rods and I don’t really subscribe to this idea anymore. It might make it less likely to shear the sector shaft, but I don’t know and hope to never find out.

So is it worth it to go with HD steering rods or not? This thread had me on board, then off, then kinda on, now I don't know what to think. Lol

Can’t tell if it’s cracked from a picture which isn’t in focus. But if he says the rod end can just slide in and out means the jam nut wasn’t tightened against the steering rod and it wallowed out.

Whether it had two jam nuts (unlikely) or not, the thing wasn’t tight. OEM, Slee, Trail Gear, et al will have this issue if the clamps/jam nuts aren’t tight. This isn’t trail gear’s fault, it’s because of operator/installer error.
True dat. Lots of owners dont realize the the jamb nuts are part of a comprehensive check list just like the ones on the knuckle studs. I try to check the ones on my adjustable panhards whenever I am down there.

I have had the jam nuts back out. Still no problems with my trail gear setup so far. Better to use loctite or regularly check them like your knuckle studs. If you don’t, worst case scenario you die while unintentionally driving off a side of a cliff while wishing you deleted your browser history on your last trip to porn hub.
