Hey guys, I know there's some material about this already floating around. This is just another thread for potential future searches, to help those who might run into the same thing.
I have a 94 FZJ80 with a 1FZFE and A442F transmission. It was shifting really early, like getting up through the gears way too quick, and it wouldn't downshift ever. It was so bad that I had to shift it myself manually or it was constantly bogged down (and I did adjust the kickdown cable per FSM).
Today I replaced the aftermarket TPS that PO installed (did they adjust per FSM, maybe not) with an OEM junkyard unit and adjusted per FSM. Now she shifts up through the gears normally, downshifts when you floor it or have to go up a hill... everything is so much better.
