My mechanic set the TPS (throttle position sensor) to 6 degrees from 9 degrees, trying to correct idling problems. Is this correct? I can't find the info in the FSM. One related thread states 7-11% (on a 97). Don't know if %=degrees and if it's the same on a 95.

Thanks,
Perk

My 1997 FSM says when checking voltage via the OBD signals:

Voltage Output of Throttle Position Sensor Calculated as a %

0V -> 0%, 5V -> 100%

Throttle fully closed, you should get voltage between 7-11% and when fully open, between 65 and 75%. These are OBD2 readings that appear on a scanner or OBD2 system capable of reading the basic CARB output signals functions. I have a system called PCMSCAN that shows the % in realtime and it hooks to the OBD2 port. It also appears you can also check abolsute position with an ohmmeter by checking resistance on the TP sensor terminals. I am not sure where he is getting a degree reading, but if you look at the graphic in this post, you'll see TP reading at the bottom middle and then in the chart beneath the graphic expressed as a percentage, not degrees.
