I am getting my winter wheels/tires ready for the upcoming season but need some assistance on which TPMS sensors to purchase. From my understanding, the Denso 550-0106 works for the 2016+ alloy wheels but not sure they work on the steel wheels. What TPMS sensors do I need? TIA

As I understand it the difference is in the angle of the sensor mounting face. You could get your wheels and tires then order one sensor to see if it works, and not be out the cost of a full set if it doesn't.

@FlightMedic178 has since sold his rig but ran steels on his 2013.. would be a different sensor but they may be able to help with the physical fitment issues

Quick update:

I went with the standard TPMS sensor and it seems to fit well - Denso Tire Pressure Monitoring System Sensor - 550-0106

Those steel wheels use the 20 degree sensor and are compatible with all other Tundra wheels except one type. The only 2007-2021 tundra wheel that uses the 40 degree sensor is the 42601-0C041 steel wheel and won’t work with others.

Thanks for confirming. I ended up buying one to try it out, and I'm glad it worked.

At the time I couldn't remember exactly who would know, but in the back of my head I recall it was you. Thanks for the info

@FJ73Texas - Do you happen to know if the lug nuts need to be changed with the steel wheels? The alloy ones have a tapered front which i assume is what the steel ones need.

The OEM 2007-2021 Tundra alloy wheels come with 22mm 14 x 1.5 mag shank lug nuts which can be used on both OEM steel or OEM alloy wheels due to the tapered edge you speak of.

I was glad to help. Every so often I see posts about Tundra wheels here on mud.
