Anyone have the part numbers for the starter contacts for the 3B? My starter is giving me some problems. I want to get the contacts on each side ("L" shaped copper contacts) and the disk that's pulled in by the solenoid.

The dealer here in Cranbrook didn't even believe they were available till I brought my one spare contact in as a sample.
I'm sure with a part number they can get it as they ordered me a couple of shear pins for my JDM '60 series PTO winch! Thanks for the part number Wayne!

I looked in my EPC, a bit confusing. Is it the terminal contacts that pull the plunger?

Can you take a picture of your spare and post it on here? Then I can look in the EPC again...

The contacts and plunger are in the magnetic switch shown in the picture. Unfortunately I left my spare contact with the dealer so he can "match it". They've ordered the wrong things for me in the past so they don't want to do that again.
The contacts are on the "inside" of the two bolts that protrude out from the switch and the plunger rides on the return spring shown in the picture.

btw. For those who don't know, this is the fix for the intermittent dead starter problem. The contacts I need to replace get a buildup of copper on only one over time and eventually the plunger only makes contact with one contact and not both. Also one contact tends to wear at a faster rate than the other so a quick trail fix is to keep one spare contact in your tool box.

I will try to figure out how to take a picture of my screen tonight.

I think I know the ones your talking about. They call them the starter kit..? its strange.

Also you could try a denso dealer. In fact Lowenbrau listed info on here not long ago about the denso kit is the rebuild kit for our starters. Same as a cummins..

Where he posted it I cannot remember. Try PM him.

I found out the thread from Lowenbrau and got the number "Toyota 28100-56030" but the parts guy locally says it doesn't come up as a good number. The thread was actually a link to Ebay so if necessary I'll buy one from there. If you folks can keep looking that'll be great and I'll post up if I find out more, including the part number from the Ebay item should I buy that.
Can anyone see if there is a change up number for this?

I'll also look at my spare starter tonight. See if I can spot the contacts. Then I know for sure what they are. This is good info to have on MUD anyhow... we will all need it one day.

Luckily my PO replaced the starter just before I got it, and he kept the old one to rebuild and keep as a spare.. :)

Denis, that's EXACTLY what I'm trying to do. The problem is the part numbers. The Toyota minitruck/4Runner contacts are MUCH smaller. It also doesn't have the plunger listed and I'd like to do that too.

Looks like it will be Ebay! I'll let you folks know how it goes. They can supply the starter kit and the altenator regulator (I'm buying a spare for $28 instead of Toyota for $80).
When it comes and installs and works fine I'll post in the parts thread.

I found it locally at Lordco (local auto parts retailer). The contacts were in stock and the plunger will be in tomorrow!
The best part is the cost was even less than Ebay!!

Starter contacts for 3B found at Lordco. Part number from the Lordco invoice as follows:

Starter contacts: Wilson 45-29-6522 less than $10
Plunger: Wilson part number to come later once I know it's correct (backordered to be in tomorrow) $12
Internal IC Regulator: Wilson 62-29-16029 looks the same but not yet tested (it's my spare) about $70

Stone/Brownbear, can we make this a sticky?

Pilfered from the parts thread. from Cruiser_guy's post...

Answer to Cruiser_guy: The stickies there now have the part number thread in the FAQ. We were trying to limit the amount of stickies and just keep the important ones linked in the FAQ.

I have seen some areas with too many stickies. One Mercedes forum I go uses a lot of stickies and it gets pretty messy to work with.

If anyone sees a thread they feel should be noted and kept for others to find, please let me or Stone know and we can add it to the FAQ.

Same if you see an importing thread in other areas of MUD, I can add it to the importing FAQ. as I don't see all the importing threads being discussed around mud. Too hard to view this whole forum. Its too big :)

Need to pay outrageous Toyota prices for starter contacts? Crazy!

Any decent parts store will have a little box of different Toyota contacts available for a few bucks a piece. Just bring your old ones with you and walk out with some new ones a few minutes and a few dollars later.

Often the plunger is fine for at least two sets of contacts, just clean it up a little and make sure the copper surface is evenly faced with a file or some emery cloth.

Toyota locally can't even find it in their system or aftermarket. I got them across the street from Toyota at the Lordco store!
I've done the contacts once before so it's time for the plunger. It did not last as long in round two.

The plunger part number is now in the parts thread!
