I think that any mechanic with some savvy will look at Marlin's seal compared to the OE seal and choose the Marlin's. The difference was that obvious to me.
When everything is brand new and the knuckles are perfectly centered the OE seals are good enough. Once things are worn a little and/or the knuckles are no longer perfectly centered, then the Marlin seals are the obvious choice.
