Dang! What an improvement visually not to mention a little weight savings and a reduced risk off road.

Got the idea from members of this site. I had a local 4x4 shop do it though as I don't do that sort of thing and it's easier to pay the $32.50 they charged me.

I left the rest of the cladding on but it doesn't look like a bloated pig anymore. Not to mention they're not very useful for passengers anyway.

No pics but it looks like all the rest of the Lexus Hundys w/o running boards. ;)

HaHa, it took closer to an hour on the Lexus. I was there watching. The front bolts are a pain to get to and there's an electrical hookup for the running board lights.

10 minutes, huh?

Just removed mine from my LX and some were a total PITA, especially the tight area ones

I've never posted anything but a poser dealer lot shot. I should take a few, shouldn't I? ;)

Well, I don't have anything but poser pics too and it's never stopped me!

With that said and funny enough, I abused the truck off road when it was new but haven't much in the last 5 years or so. However, that will change soon.

I bought this more for a backcountry camping rig than an "off-road" rig but some of our backcountry roads are pretty rocky. It would have been only a matter of time before I snagged one of those running boards. I also found them pretty useless from a practical POV as they didn't stick out far enough to get a good footing anyway.

With ya':). We spend a lot of time getting lost on the Owyhee's...search for a few threads about sliders combined with steps.

Well this thread needs a pic! I took my running boards off today, it was extremely easy, unbolted the brackets from the body, off in 10 mins taking my time.

it's better to get them off before you go 'muddin...that way when you take em off all the crap doesnt fall on ya. ATTENTION: Wear eye protection while removing these things, the brackets and such can really hold some grit & grime.

Anthony, your 100's gonna look good in a few weeks ;)

It already does:doh:

You should trim the mud flaps.........makes it look more off-road worthy

Thanks guys!

Good idea on the flaps, probably trim those since the driver side is already kinda broken anyways. Also need to remove the trailer plug hookup or remove the factory tow hitch all together before going out. You can see in the photo above the plug hanging down and will easily get caught on something.

Steve - We should get together sometime. I don't find many 100's out here willing to get theirs dirty, other than ginericLC out in MH.

White-Knuckle Offroad has some pretty nice sliders out. I'm really looking at these.

 How big are those things on the end of your legs?? My family uses them all the time with success. My family :)princess: and kids) use them so much I can't take them off until I replace them with step sliders. And I can't seem to bring myself to spend the $$ until the stock boards are trashed... guess I need to get to work on that

But I do agree that it looks better without them... OTH they do protect your rockers... Sliders... definitely NEED sliders :D
