Rear brake work, have everything mounted and tightened up.
Started on the lines, changing the fittings and broke the little die
in the flaring kit. That pissed me off so I thought it would be a good time to quit.
Bette and I went cross country sking, that calmed me down!

I am putting discs on my 60 axle and I put the calipers in front of the axle . Is there a right and wrong way on caliper placement? I also learned that you need to put the bleeder srews up or you can not get the air out.

Did you use eldorado calipers?

What did you do for the e-brake?

All the pics I've seen show the calipers to the rear, and the bleeders are on top.
Calipers are from a 79 Monte Carlo, disc's a 1/2 ton Chevy.
Parking brake is the stock unit on the T-case.
Have a Summit Racing proportioning valve that will be mounted
on the firewall near the MC.

Yep, this is the same set-up I have. Calipers to rear/bleeders on top.

Are those Sky Mfg. brackets? I have the calipers and rotors for rear discs, but haven't bought brackets yet. Those look stout.

Brackets are made by Poser here on the board. The rotors were the pain. You need to have the centers machined so they fit the LC axle

poser will cut you new rotors, cheap. I got the whole deal right from him, just sourced the brake lines and calipers.

Now the fronts

Big thanks to Randy for picking them up for me.
I did the disc swap on the front a few years ago and picked
up some 4Runner (4 cyl) calipers from somebody in the club.
These are the V6 models, a whole lot bigger, and we all know bigger is better!

Spent some time in the shop this afternoon. I've been practicing with the flaring
tool and think I got the hang of it. So the rear brakes are all hooked up and all they need is some brake fluid.
Of course I don't have any. : (
Still have to scrounge up some steel to make a bracket for the proportioning valve and get that
mounted and plumbed up.

Got a little bit more time in the shop this weekend.
Have the new calipers mounted on the fronts, used a part#
from here on Mud and picked up some soft lines to run straight to the calipers
Picked up a Saginaw mounting plate from Jason awhile back, came attached
to a frame. Between a sawzall and a grinder I got that removed and is now in
the extra parts box.
Spent the afternoon with the inlaws having a big Easter feast! Pretty good day!

Ok, got the proportioning valve in today.
Have all the new lines flared and hooked up, bench
bled the MC and cracked all the bleeders open
and have fluid down to all the calipers. Still have to
get Bette or Ian to help finish bleeding them.
My rims hit the front calipers and rather than grinding
them down I ordered some spacers from Spidertrax
this morning. They have already shipped them.
Started working on the MT nose guard, still have to figure
out how I want to mount it. Thinking about welding it to
the winch plate.
Boy Scout camping this weekend so I won't be able to
work on it again until Monday.

Been at a tech school for the last 6mos.

I am ready with my bootiefab gaskets.

No wrenching this weekend. Went camping with the
Scouts. Theme was "Survivor Man". They were allowed
a sleeping bag and pad, pocket knife, spoon, water bottle and the clothes
on thier back. We had a few tarps for them to use, some #10 cans to make cooking
gear with. They had to get their water from a swamp. Weather was great, clear and 15 degrees overnite.
Everyone said they had a blast!
