Howdy;
Along with the TLCa Hall of Fame, this year I'd like to start TLCA Member of the Year, an award to go to a TLCA member who has done something special this year. Two immediate examples that come to my mind for this year are:
1) Tony Twiddy for his great work on the TLCA History series of articles
2) The entire FJ Cruiser Trail Team. Not "one guy" but definately a great group of (yes, they all are) TLCA members out spreading goodwill this year.

Please help us with some more suggestions, and the TLCA Board of Directors can discuss these at a later date...

thanks, Alan

I second the Tony Twiddy nomination. He's worked his butt off on these history articles. Not to mention helping with the PMC Swap Meet and Rubithon. Tony gets my vote.

Will he be required to wear a cape througout his tenure as member of the year? I hope so. :D

I concur that Tony is very deserving...

I would also like to throw Kowboy's name in the ring.

I think Kowboy is very good at getting people interested in attending events, he's started a club that went from a couple of guys, to, what, 30? 40? a whole lot.

He also stepped in as Secretary when called upon.

Woody aka Brian Swearingen
Because of the work he's done with his website to bring TLCA & TLCA member clubs closer to it's members and his efforts to help raise membership.

And thank you guys and girls for all your hard work!

can i third a nomination? I agree with Tony's nomination. Or should I say the nomination of Tony? I didn't join the TLCA until 2000 so learning about it's history was something I really enjoyed. A lot of time and effort was spent with little more than on the back in return. to Mr. Twiddy for his efforts.

Another vote for Tony. He does a great job at the Rubithon works hard to get TLCA membership re-newals.

i'd have to say tony as well. the guys from trail team get paid by toyota to do what they're doing. not that i don't apprecioate their efforts.

woody would be a great choice as well.

How do you spell TLCA?

T-O-N-Y

I nominate Greg Mumm, TLCA member, Black Hills Cruisers Member, and head of the Blue Ribbon Coalition as of this year.
He has been active in land use issues longer than I've been alive...;)...and now is TLCA's premier land use advocate...
Keep the sport alive!

Thank you sir.

But I want no part of this here deal.

If'n we gonna honor somebody ... let's figure out a way to honor each and ev'ry person that actually got off the couch and went to an event. Maybe a small-print roster in TT that lists the names. These people will always be the Heart and Soul of this club ... and each is equally worthy of bein' named a "member of the year".

Carry on.

I actually like that. It also helps during elections and what not to see who's supporting, and who's just talking about it.

I like the roster idea. (mostly because I've been to an event this year) Maybe you could put different asterisks (sp) after the names for the differrent events they attended. Or just list them, as I don't think many people attend 3-5 or more... Maybe include TLCA numbers (also this would make it easier to keep track of people with similar names.

Or list them by event, that may be easier, as the various clubs probably have the lists already, and it wouldn't require much editing.

Two months later...........

I would like to second this nomination. On top of the stuff wooody already mentioned, Kowboy has single-handedly opened a new chapter in our TLCA history by creating BOD minutes worthy of their own web forum! I don't think I've EVER heard of anyone looking forward to reading meeting minutes until Kowboy came on board.

Not only that, but his persistant banging on the drum [and on a few other things I'd rather not mention:eek: ] has shown fruit in more participation at our BOD meetings and on our BODREPS e-mail discussions.

You know what I just realized about the couple of nominations I see here. Both Tony and Kowboy are the type of folks who do stuff just because. They aren't expecting any honor in doing it. They do it because they feel it in their heart. And they are both the type of folks that aren't going to be overly willing to accept an honor because they did their work because they wanted to and for no other reason.
