Now don't bite my head off because I am gonna use some J**p references in this post, but it is the only reference I have for this type of event.
Every year J**p puts on "Camp Jeep", I attended one in 1998 in Colorado at camp Hail, and it was awesome! At that time it was still relatively small, about 300 J**ps at the time. It has really grown since then.
They offered so many different activities.
They had a "tech" tent, a tread lightly tent, a history tent, a kids activity tent, rock wall climbing, food, concerts, an off-road area where you could drive the newest J**p over logs, off camber, and general off-roading course. You had an experienced off-roader with you to guide you through the course. They offered all day trail rides.
Now I know the first question would be "who will work it?" They recruited people from all over the US from different 4x4 clubs to work it. We met a member from another group we were on from West Virginia.
Who will fund it? Well I would think that Toyota would be the greatest sponsor, followed by the aftermarket companies, eg. Old Man Emu etc.
The possibilites for this type of event would be limited by imagination only.
I would really like to see this type of event happen with the TLCA. It educational, informative, and most of all FUN!!!
Here is a reference to the J**p page that might help with ideas, I'm not suggesting to copy them, but to make a Toyota event to rival them.
Jeep - Jeep Life - Events - Camp Jeep
It would be a lot of work, but it would be worth every drop of sweat, it would promote Toyota and the TLCA and what they are about.
