I've got the opportunity to pick up some 325/70R16 Nitto Terra Grappler A/T's with under 1K on them for next to nothing, but would they fit ... and be worth it. The truck has an OME 850/863 setup w/ 1" spacers in the front and an ARB (no winch yet). The tire calculator shows them to be about 1" taller and almost 2" wider than my 285/75R16s, but smaller than 315/75R16s. I know this subject has been kicked to death, but I've never seen any reference to this tire size. The MTR's have been great, but bigger would be nice as well ... unless I run into gearing/rubbing issues.

What do you guys think?

Nitto lists a "real world" size of those tires at 33.86" tall and 13.03" wide, with a minimum recommended rim width of 8.5" and an optimal of 9.5".

I'd say your biggest issue is trying to get them not to 'crown' on the stock 8" wide rim, as well as some possible rubbing issues that I'd know nothing about.

You'd also probably need to adjust your bumpstops, which would limit travel in a regular-lift cruiser.

Hmm - I got 33.9" X 12.8" with the metric converter I was using and thought they'd work on stock rims because people run 315/75R16s (34.6" x 12.4") with them. That's why I'm asking though :D

Here are the #'s
--------------------Dia -------Width
LT315/75 R16 -------34.49 -----12.32
LT325/70 R16 -------33.86 -----13.03

You should have about the same clearence.
Only problem is that the 325's are only approved on at least a 8.5 inch rim, the stocks are 8.0.

Edit: Damn I'm slow. If you guys watched me type, you would pull your hair out.

You should be able to run them. They'd likely rub with full articulation. They might stick out beyond the flares...although I'm not sure about this...

If they're cheap, go for it.

We're on the same thought process here - what about the width of the rims ... would this be a big problem?

YES IT IS A HUGE PROBLEM....YOU MUST BUY NEW RIMS...and I will be down this weekend to take those OEM and current tires out of your hair...I know your gf won't like them sitting around...and Nic told me he is busy...so I guess I will have to take them. :D

You would probably be ok...but I'd watch your wear really closely.

I agree.
You should play with the inflation a bit to find what works best. As already mentioned, the tires could crown a bit because they're being fitted to narrower than recommended rims -- adjusting the psi a bit should solve that though.

Actual tire size is very seldom the exact same as the numeric size definitions indicate. Whenever you look at a tire online or in a brochure, look at the 'specifications' to see what the actual, real world size is.
