What is the biggest size tire that will fit on stock wheels from a 66 FJ40. Thanks.

I got away with 31s without much hassle. If you're going to bigger tires, do something with your brakes. If you cant disk, at least update you master. You should do this for disc anyway so do it first and your drums will work better in meantime.

31's fit, 33 narrow's fit as well, but tight. Fenderwell clearance is the issue, but IMO a 33x9.5 or 10.5 looks sweet on a stock suspension FJ40.

I agree, they are tight but don't rub on the street(where I pose

both 33x9.5 on a stock 6" wheel
the green 40 is going OME in a week however, the mustard is staying stock(a bit less sag on it)

"personaly" I don't like 10.5's on a 5.5 or 6" wheel, I had issue when I had a set on my fj60.

Thanks for the info. Jim, I am not getting bigger tires I was just wondering if I could put the tires I am currently running on stock wheels. Is it possible to trade in your tires to help with the cost of new ones at a tire store? Thanks.
