So I blew a tread on my front BFG and need to replace my tires. DT won’t put 35x12.5x17 tires on my 4 runner rims beca they are 17x7. Any thoughts from all the 80 owners, don’t really want to buy rims just to put new 35‘s on. Going down to 33 makes me think I would regret it later. I figure if I can find the tires and just go to a tire shop to get them put on, but is it that wrong for 35x12.5x17 going on a 17x7 rim?

Is the tire rated for a 7" wide rim? That could be why they refuse to mount it. According to the interweb you'll expirance sidewall roll if the rim is undersize for the width of the tire.
