Rig: 1978 FJ40

Issue: I have a maddening rattle from my tire carrier. I get these rigs are old and they make noises but this rattle is literally maddening. I've isolated the noise to the tire carrier arm. It rattles inside the hinge the pin sits in. The picture shows exactly where you can see the arm moving if you rock the FJ40 back and forth.

Anyone know if there is a rebuild kit or bushing that goes in this to make is snug and stop the rattle?

How tough is it to install the brass bushings?

Ace Hardware has metric bronze bushings in stock in the nuts & bolts section. I believe the size you will need is 16mm i.d / 20mm o.d, and they were approx. $3 each. I haven't used these on my carrier yet so I can't confirm it will be an exact fit, but it may be worth a shot.

I used the Toyota part #s on my 78 w/ the tube style. Would have been nice to have brass. BTW - I used a press to separate and re-assemble. Did not have to cut any welds or bend anything as suggested in some posts.
