Anyone have any tips on taking the dash apart in my 80 to install the new stereo? When I did it in my Tacoma someone gave me a nice sheet from Crutchfeild with step by step instructions.
What about the doors for new door speakers?

Only tip i could think of is telling you not to do it...........kidding, it's really not that hard. But my dash is different then yours.

Do a quick search on "speaker install" on the 80's forum and you will have all the info, model #'s and pics you need. This has been discussed heavily. I went with the Eclipse that many have recommended, got them cheap at a local stereo place, but havent had a chance to install yet.

I've read most of the installs, just really looking for the dash specifics so I don't end up with broken peices :)

For just the dash? Why not just follow these instructions?

It's not for a stereo install, but it does detail removal of the dash.

Doug
I just saw that, I figured that would be enough.

Suggestion: If you're Phishing for information that's fine, but if you've already done the search and collected some info. why not say so in you're post, and then be specific about what you need from there. That does two things: gets the search police off your back, and prevents nice guys like me :D from wasting time detailing out instructions that you already have.

Just my $0.02.

Rookie, nice guys finish last.

I just want to make sure that we don't run out of topics to discuss. Then I would have to actually work more.

Hold on Rookie...
If guys like this don't post here in tech for answers to questions already answered, how the heck am I going to keep my post count above FSIMIG???

He's catching up FAST  He'll be a "lifer" by the end of this month at the rate he's going...

:flipoff2: :D

Phish - The Hanes manual offers a decent description of taking apart the dash. You can always go Barnes & Noble or equivalent and read it for free. The biggest thing is to go slow and be careful as the plastic trim is long, thin, and breaks easy. 6 or so screws.

Also- go slow and easy on the screws. They remind me of drywall screws; I don't think they were meant to be taken out and reinserted many times. You don't want to cross thread one of those.

Ohh, gotcha. So whats WP??

Thank you. This post came in handy for me too, as I just got my 96 and changing head unit.
