Looking for mechanic/shop recommendations in the Rio Grande Valley, TX (956) for timing belt.. thx in advance guys

Hey @sr7110 . I'm not sure of any shops down in the Valley, but I know Duc AKA @duggy comes very well recommended by guys who have used his garage and services in the Houston area. Also @cwwfj60 is in the San Antonio area but not sure if Cody still does mechanic work or cruiser jobs on the side anymore but he is among the best in the South TX area.

Maybe reach out and see what they say if they are not too far for you to travel to. If not, they may have some suggestions on a shop more local to you. You can also try posting this topic on the below local clubhouses and maybe posters more familiar with the RGV shops/mechanics may chime in. Good luck and let's see some pics and details of your Cruiser!

While always best to seek out the most experienced shop, any Indy/Shop that has seen a 2UZ FE in any other vehicle (Four Runner, Sequoia, Tundra) should be able to perform the work.

Thanks for the mention @Flipped Bezel

I am still wrenching, I actually have my own shop now.

@sr7110 sorry I can't be of more help, I'm on the NE side of San Antonio, I doubt you'd want to make that drive for a timing belt service. I don't know of a single shop in the valley, but I will ask around and see. You may get some helpful responses on the Austin or San Antonio chapter pages.

Glad to hear it Cody! Congrats sir!

@sr7110 what year is your 100? Mileage?

We can help if you are in the Houston area. If you choose a shop near you to do it, make sure they replace all incidentals during the timing belt service. Thermostat, upper/lower radiator hoses, crank seal are necessary. They should also check function of the fan bracket, fan clutch and radiator to see if they need to be replaced. Those items get removed during the tbelt service, and should be checked to see if new parts should go back on. Let us know if we can help!
