After pressing the throwout bearing onto the collar, it was binding/sticking at one point in the rotation, I got a machinist to 'fix' it, and then after bolting everything back together super quick, moving across the country, and not touching it for a few months, I forgot about it. Anyway, put in a new slave cylinder and tried to drive it today and surprise, little bit of smoke and lots of heat from the throwout bearing, and squealing when clutch is engaged. Obviously the throwout bearing is binding still, my question (as that was already a replacement collar that I'd purchased from someone here) is if there's a way to actually fix that? Or is there a replacement/reman one hiding somewhere online? Last question, I guess, is if anyone has a 3-speed collar they want to sell me in Washington/Oregon/Colorado (I'm in all 3 fairly often) or would ship to me.

Not looking forward to having to pull the transmission again 😭 Honestly maybe this is a sign its finally time to swap the drivetrain since I have to pull everything out again anyway.

Sorry about the spot your in. I’m surprised the mechanic didn’t press you to replace the throw out bearing.

I think I’m hearing that your thinking that the collar that pushes the throwout bearing into the clutch is warped?

I think your in a position that you need to pull it out to evaluate.

My original throwout bearing collar was damaged, so I bought one from someone on here - and yeah, for whatever reason the bearing sticks when trying to rotate on the collar. It was a brand new bearing, so has to be a problem with the collar. Not sure what other options I have other than buying more collars until one works or swapping the whole damn clutch assembly/transmission, lol.

Are you sure you have the right parts? Has it ever worked correctly? Does sound like something is bent. What about the condition of the ball/socket and the ears on the carrier - worn could cause misalignment

I’m struggling with a bent collar. In the camber - I just can’t imagine a stress that would bend it- unless something catastrophic happened inside the bell housing.

Being bent outside the housing during while it was dismantled?
