(1971 FJ40, 3-speed)
After pressing the throwout bearing onto the collar, it was binding/sticking at one point in the rotation, I got a machinist to 'fix' it, and then after bolting everything back together super quick, moving across the country, and not touching it for a few months, I forgot about it. Anyway, put in a new slave cylinder and tried to drive it today and surprise, little bit of smoke and lots of heat from the throwout bearing, and squealing when clutch is engaged. Obviously the throwout bearing is binding still, my question (as that was already a replacement collar that I'd purchased from someone here) is if there's a way to actually fix that? Or is there a replacement/reman one hiding somewhere online? Last question, I guess, is if anyone has a 3-speed collar they want to sell me in Washington/Oregon/Colorado (I'm in all 3 fairly often) or would ship to me.
Not looking forward to having to pull the transmission again
Honestly maybe this is a sign its finally time to swap the drivetrain since I have to pull everything out again anyway.
