I'll be there, and I have no problem doing this. I'll be going out there on Friday night, getting runs in on Saturday, and will be leaving Sunday morning.
Just to let y'all know the latest update on this event... With the lack of rain in the entire state - the Lincoln Nat'l Forest has been closed and therefor most of the trails they were planning on using. The event planners have been working very hard to find alternatives and have found some pretty promising BLM trails, including some through mining country. There will be a little bit of travel from Ruidoso to the trails, but they say it will be worth it. The Toyota Trail Team will still be there as will a bunch of vendors. There will be a small obstacle course at the campground as well. I am looking forward to the event - there is plenty of food (2-nights of dinner provided) and live music each night. Hope to see you there.
Paul
I'm still going, but the wife and kids aren't going to this time. Instead, I am taking a couple of my nephews. I'll be heading down there on Friday, and plan to leave no later than noon. I have to be back for a concert Sunday night, so I'll probably only end up hitting the trails on Saturday.
Myself, my wife and son will be there - we are leaving sometime in the early afternoon on Friday, setting up camp and driving back on Sunday night, after dinner.
I just had a call from Mark Geraghty. He lives in Gallup, is a member of TLCA, and drives a stock FJ Cruiser (I forgot to ask what color). He is considering joining HDC, but has not joined yet. He is going to call Brandon and see about getting registered for the Thrill on the Hill.
I just wanted to post a note out here so you guys who are going can keep an eye out for Mark. In case you'd like to contact him before the weekend, his number is 505-722-6258. Mark may be joining the Mud forum, so he could be posting here as well.

If Mark reads this - make sure he looks for us in Ruidoso. I will be in the modded Sun-Fusion FJC with a mini travel trailer pulling behind it. I will be at the campground on Friday early evening. If the HDC wants to circle the wagons, I am sure we can find a spot to camp together. The campground is kind of small, but it is nestled in the trees and a nice place.
Hey everyone, we made it back on Sunday night, late. We left after the catered BBQ and raffle. Some great prizes by the way. I won a metal tech front bumper for the FJC!
It was a great time. Lots of good people, nice weather, a great campground and lots of friendship being shared. The first day on the trails was a bit disappointing. We drove for 2-plus hours to reach the trails and it was a glorified dirt road. Not very challenging, and not very scenic. We played on a few obstacles, but not a lot of really cool stuff.
We certainly don't put blame on the event, they couldn't help having the forest closed. The BLM put tough restrictions to stay on established roads too, due to the fire danger.
Hence, we decided to hold back on the Sunday runs and went into town (Ruidoso) to sight-see. Well, several groups decided to split off from the Toyota Trail Teams and hit the 'Three Amigos' trail in Coyote Canyon. You'll have to ask Ron about it... There was quite a few really nice obstacles and some carnage, including a blown rear diff. It sounded like a fun time and we are sorry we missed it, not the blown diff part.I am sure Ron has some better ones.
All in all, a great event. We had fun. Here are some pix.
Great pics Paul. I think we did Three Amigos last year too - we definitely did Coyote Canyon, but I'm not sure if the part we ran was the Three Amigos or not.

I have 8 videos anyone know where I can post them so others can see them too? On yousendit.com it will only be there for 7 days. It was a great event, meet some great people too and had fun.
Thanks for all the hard work done to pull this event off.

The black cherry FJ is not the one who blew his rear diff, that was me. THe BC did sustain some damage to the front bumper though but then he won the Icon coilovers and couldn't have been happier. Paul summed up Saturday pretty good so I won't comment further or post pics of it. Here are some pics from sunday's non-sanctioned run (sorry but I don't have any from the incident).
