I am looking at a 91 BJ73 with a 2.5 L turbo 5 speed. Since it is quite a distance for me to look at I wanted to try and get some input on the vehicle in general. My main question is with a 2.5 L 4 cyl. how is the power and the get up and go?

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

If it's a BJ73 it will have originally been a 3B motor or PZ which came online in 90 to replace the B series. The small turbo motor was commonly used in the LJ series, a light duty variant of the 70 series... The 5 speed typically mated to it is the light weight R151tranny... For little 2.5 goes pretty well, lots of data on it online, do a search for LJ73 reviews...

Beno,

I was one of the last guys out of Proffitts shop with a FJ40 vortec resto. I am looking for a reliable daily driver (diesel - 25 year rule). What direction should I be headed in your opinion?

Thanks,

Steve

I just bought a BJ73 in Spain. Everything I have seen says stay away from the VM 2.5 motor.

If you are in Australia you are probably better off picking one up there, unless RHD is an issue.
