I just scored a SROR bumper with a high lift and gas can holder. I was curious if any of you who DD with accessories have had any problems with theft?

I havent but I dont drive around with jerry cans round the town.

My rear bumper has cam action handles that use safety pins but I have used locks whenever I have to park it out of sight... I do use a cable lock fo my jerry cans...

I have a motorcycle cable lock that I snake through the Jerry cans, hi-lift and wheel.

Ditto on the cable. But is dont run with it loaded unless I am on a wheeling trip. I do keep the spare there but nothing else.

I might suggest you run the cable through the hi lift, not the tip where you show it.

If they remove the bolt it will be gone with that tip still on the cable. If it doesn't fit through the holes in the hi-lift it's better than nothing, but just a suggestion.

I have locking nuts on the spare, but don't carry my hi-lift unless i'm going wheeling.

GL!

I'm pretty much in agreement with the rest. I don't carry gear on the outside unless I'm wheelin. If you want to show off what you got just have it on when the rig is in site of you. Otherwise spare the weight & don't tempt theives when your rig is alone

I have to carry a hilift, i'd do it

As for the high lift, mount it to the back of the front seats on the floor. The 60" model fits there great and you can bungee it to the seat mounts, not that I bungee it, but it's there and out of harm's way.

I also have a SROR bumper and love it! I leave all my stuff on the rig. The high lift is attached to the front ARB with SS bolts and wingnuts with a length of SS cable with pad lock that is locked to the HL. The rear can has a locking strap and SS cabel with lock. The tools have a padlock. I haven't had any theft problems, but it can always happen. I leave the stuff on the rig, because what's the point of having it if you don't have it with you when you need it...

Sorry, I don't have any close-ups, but these might help.

Good luck..

I had a high-lift stolen from my roof rack. I've since built a lockable mounting point for it on my rear bumper.

The pic shows the mounting studs on the left side of the jerry can carrier. The jact is locked with a "U" type lock through the bottom of the jerry carrier. The cans have a cable over the top.

The cable I use is available at home depot or lowes. It a theft cable you hook a lock on to or they come with locks. Many places will have a variation on this kind of cable.
