Question here: has anyone installed a set of Thorley Shory headers (562-ss-c) on a pre 05 model?

If so, has it been a success?

Bought them by accident believing them to be a proper fit!

Thanks in advance!

I have a 2001 model, they fit fine. I did the full kit.

Looks like the design is different for the 05+ to accommodate the air injection. And they cost more.

If you purchased headers for an air pump equipped 06-07 and want sell PM me.

Yes, but the 05+ uses the AI header design according to their application chart.

What do the lines on the exhaust connect to?

I hate to be the guy buying them for an 2005:eek:

Presumable an AIR injection pump (a filtered fresh air pump). AIR pumps run when cats are not yet hot enough to work effectively. The addition of oxygen to the exhaust somehow both increases cat effectiveness and lights them up more quickly.

Secondary air injection - Wikipedia

I'm not sure why it was suddenly necessary in 2005 with the new VVT-i engine... *shrug*

The VVT-i was NOT available in the Land Cruiser or LX470 in 2005, 2006 was the first year available:meh:

And I wonder why the #2 primary has to be so long on the 98-2004 ones... strange looking design.

I thought it was to fit around the steering shaft but apparently not since the newer model doesn't require the large hoop. Hmm
