A new poll dicovered that more Americans can name the 3 Stooges than the 3 branches of government.

I'm still digging for the data on Shemp... :D

Hmmm...I don't know the last names, but weren't there 6 Stooges?

    Larry
    Moe
    Curley
    Shemp
    Joe
    Curley Joe

Far from a Stooges expert here, but I think all those guys were Stooges at some point.

    Posted earlier to great consternation:

"Should such an ignorant people lead the world? How did it come to this in the first place? 82 percent of us don't even have a passport! Just a handful can speak a language other than English. "
    Michael Moore

It seems like PabloCruise agrees with Michael.

Just curious if Mr. Moore told you the percentage of people with a passport in another country that is similarly sized (area and pop.) to the US, whose nearest neighbors don't require a passport for entry? And also regarding language, what is a "handful"? %? And again, how does this "handful" compare to a country comparably sized to the US (excluding small, internal ethnic groups with their own languages) where 50% of their neighboring countries also speak the same language?

Frankly, I find the fact that someone could define "ignorance" as lack of "international travel" (which for some reason for US citizens always has Canada and Mexico excluded, since if they didn't, it wouldn't support their claims) and failure to speak another language a shallow, weak definition. And Canadians and Mexicans ought to feel slighted that people outside the US who want to lambast us as ignorant don't consider your countries as different international entities from the US...

Back to the Stooges, I hate to overanalyze this, but my generation and younger (<40) isn't terribly familiar with the stooges. It would be interesting to know who/what ages they sampled. Ahh, but then again, the truth seldom makes good copy...

edit: and yes, I've had a passport for 20 years, and speak another language fluently, so :flipoff2: you Man-Boob Moore...

I don't know about Mexico but Canada, unfortunately, is becoming close to the US when it comes to ignorance and meddling in another country's business.

WTF do I need a passport for? Never had one, probably never will. The only other countries I feel reasonably safe traveling to don't require them for travel. There's more than enough stuff to see right here in America, why go anywhere else.
No I don't speak any other languages. I know some words and phrases in Spanish, but English is the language of the country I live in. Since I don't travel around the globe, knowing another language would probably be wasted brain space.

The 3 Stooges were funny, Iggy rocks,
And Michael Moore is a queer!
