It might be overspray but the wifes 92 looks like that . A high press wash took the black wheel well spray off so its nice and clean in the rear wheel wells toobut has never been resprayed

ours here were body color inside the fenders, with a black overspray, pressure washing will take this off, leaving the body color in the fender wells.

Can ya get a pic of the firewall? Should be able to tell if you look at the firewall vs just above it. Yes, some fading will occur, but is easy place to tell. Also, just under the vents is a good place to look. Also, take out the corner light or headlamp if ya have to.
