May seem like an odd question, but "do you think anyone would trade me all the necessary parts to convert my FJ62 with electric windows to manual ? "

I plan to build a Rig into an Overland Expedition vehicle, and plan to take a nice l-o-n-g drive in 2 years, after I have completed it :steer:

Sounds crazy, but in an attempt to simplify the list of potential "can go wrong items" I would like to have manual windows, just in case the pwr models decide to take a dump on me out on the road. (in the middle of nowhere)

I'm with you brother....and I have all the pieces to do mine. Even sourced fj60 door panels that match my 62's interior. It's all bolt in, oem stuff. Just source what you need from a 60 and crank away.

The only thing I want to keep is the power locks and figure a way to mount & wire a switch in the dash to the left of the steering wheel.

so they swap easy ?? I'm lookin to go the other way ??

I've wanted power windows in my 60 for a while, I just found this thread, cant believe no one has taken you up on it seems like the easiest way would be to find a pair/set of doors in your neck of the woods I imagine all that needs to be changed is the crank assembly and switches as well as the door panels.

I had my choice when I bought my truck 23 years ago. I chose manual, expecting problems with electric. I'm glad I did. Who needs the aggravation?

I presently have (4) FJ62 Land Cruisers and wouldn't you know, all are electric

If you want to drive to Asheville, NC I might be willing to trade it out. I would want it all functional and definitely power locks. I have an 87' FJ60 that was rolled I use for parts.

I think all 62's are electric here in the states, you looking to do all 4 doors or just the front?

Looking to do all 4 doors......

Ahhh let me see if I get this right
You would be willing to trade, but you would want me to DRIVE to you in order to exchange? It's called UPS......really, they deliver ;)

And if you truck was rolled and you are using it for spare parts, would you be willing to SELL me your manual window assembly: front and rear?

Sorry meant to say I could ship. I just assumed you want to make sure you get what you need.

I was still scratching my head on this one LOL.....I trust that if you would ship the appropriate parts; we could make out a list together if you prefer

I have an '87 FJ60 sitting on my trailer about to head for the scrap yard. It has all the manual window stuff in the doors. I'd be happy to sell it to you but I gotta know in a couple days. If I don't hear before I leave for the scrap yard the windows go to the scrap yard with the truck. Make me a fair offer. I'm a little over 2 hours from you and can deliver this week for the cost of fuel for my 30mpg car.

Nick....YES...I would appreciate all the manual window hardware from the truck that you are taking to the scarp yard.
As far as FAIR price, you let me know and I am sure it would be fair; I am leaving town Thurs - Tues for a car show; but we can arrange either www.paypal.com payment, or a time next week to meet, or whatever you feel is fair. Unless you want to come to Louisville tomorrow, I will be here all day at the shop.

Anything else on the truck worth keeping?

Sorry for my confusing reply. Of course I can ship, I was just offering for you to come to the parts rig if you want. It sounds like you might already have it worked out, but if not just let me know. Not into it for the money, I just like to trade if possible so everybody wins in getting what they need to keep these things on the road. ;)

This is something I was considering once I bought my Cruiser. Now that I have it I kind of like the power stuff (and the windows don't even work right now). Although for simplicity sake I may still do it.

Wow, can't believe I'm responding to the same thread over two years later.

C2-
As mentioned before, I did the manual swap in my 62. Good that you found a donor vehicle to get all the parts at one time. FYI, the manual and power door int panels are different in that the holes for the switches and cranks are in different places. You will have to cut new holes and will have blank holes still present.
If you are very persistent watching the part out section you can find matching interior manual door panels from late '87 fj60's, there was a crossover in interior fabric with the later 60's and 62's. That's what I did. Just depends on how factory/original you want it to look.
I "think" the manual window regulators are still available new, in case you get a really worn one. Helps to replace all the rubber window channels too.

Do I miss power windows? Meh, occasionally. I do not miss the broken switches, slow ass battery draining cold window raising, scrambling for my keys when a sudden downpour hits outside, etc...

It's all about 3rd world reliability.

After starting this thread 2+ yrs ago and then reviving it a week ago, as of today I officially have my manual windows! Ended up buying them instead of trading, so look far a set of good working power windows available soon.

In my quest for d-empowerment I also secured a full manual tranny swap for my 62 as well today. All in all it was a very productive day, as well as meeting a fellow Cruiser who is only an hour up the road. Thanks again
Nick for the manual swap, when you get back in town I'll come up and get the manual tranny and parts to perform THAT install. Maybe by then you'll have a lead on the round headlight core support we discussed.

Now time to DO WORK

Funny, you and I are chasing the same goals for our 62's. I have an h55f w/tcase sitting in my garage on a pallet and about 95% of what I need to swap to ol' skool single round eye headlights.
My problem is, Ive been collecting (hoarding ) all this extra crap for a loooong time and haven't done a damn thing yet...my 62 is a DD again, so makes it kinda hard to work on:bang:.............I need to buy a Hundy:princess: to :steer:.....and start :wrench::wrench: again!!

Good luck with it all.
