Wanted thermostat lower water housing April 1979 (FJ40) (1 Viewer)

My lower housing has been eaten thru at the one of the screw areas. I can
find various lower housings online stating that they go up to 1/79. My
FJ40 was however made in April 1979. Not clear what the difference is
so info on what I could get would be nice.

1) I need one lower hemisphere thermostat water housing for April 1979 FJ40
2) I need one NEW thermostat for April 1979 FJ40

If I need to completely switch gears and get a new combo (lower + upper) that
fits the block inlet then thats possible also. My upper water hemisphere has an
oil cooler outlet.

The ‘79 came with 2 temp sender holes in the lower housing. If you are desmogged and don’t need those sender holes, you can use a lower housing all the way back to ‘68.

I would offer to sell you one , but there are at least 10 guys on here that can offer you one for less than a guy with a bricks and mortar business with overhead.

Incredible info 65swb45! I have been desmogged. Looks like I can also pick up part
16331-60040 off ebay also for 45$.

hoperichb ... if you have a new one in the same ballpark I'd prefer buying from
a fellow mudder. Otherwise I'll go with the new off ebay since its avail and apparently
(given the condition of mine) they fall apart.

I have a used one at that price for upper and lower. At that rate for brand new I’d take it. Let me know if you want it and I’ll get you a picture.
