Nice thread @RUSH55! Loved reading it all.

Was this piggy for sale on craigslist a couple years back? I could've sworn I saw it on there. I may have the pictures I saved from the ad on my computer somewhere I'll have to look.

Thanks @yotadude520 !👍
That is funny you mention that - yes, I posted it on CL around 2016 maybe? My heart wasn’t in it to sell it. Then Pig Party 2018 happened...

Thought I recognized it from somewhere! That sounds about right - I think the asking price was $12,000 IIRC or somewhere around there.

Glad you kept it, it's an awesome rig with an awesome story. I'm a sucker for the sentimental trucks like these.

Here’s some pics from a trip around 2004 on a trail known as DeSoto Mine in the Bradshaw Mts. It was the little dove and myself, @RHINO , and his friend Taylor in the Burbon on the Rocks. Cool trail. Interesting trip.
There’s a known obstacle on this trail that has a steep side-hill climb with a healthy pucker factor. As we approached, we noticed a truck ahead near the obstacle had slid off the road. Upon further investigation, it was an abandoned tow-truck from the Prescott Valley area. They had attempted some self extraction to no avail. We ran the obstacle and continued on.
Further into the trail we began noticing some random exterior vehicle parts. A rear view mirror. A running board. A fender flare.
At last we came to the source. An abandoned early 2000’s Ford Expedition high centered on a rock ledge in the center of the trail with a deep groove ran through the center of the tread of a spare tire, with a missing rear-view mirror, running board and fender flare.
I positioned my Cruiser behind the Ford and drug it out of the way with my winch so we could get by and continue on.

Ran the rest of the trail and a couple little optional spurs we found.
After a couple phone calls, we found
that a British couple had rented the Expedition in Sedona, took it out on this trail, got stuck, hiked out, called the rental company who called the tow truck which got stuck and had to return later to get it out and the rental.

Great write up and great pics. I bought my 55 from a girl in Cottonwood For $2500 back in ‘94 when I lived in Sedona, and it was my daily driver for probably 4 or 5 years. My buddies and I used to take our rigs out to some of the places you named.

Mike and his crew at Desert Auto & 4x4 up Airport Hill in W.S. helped me sink money into it until I moved in ’00.
anyway, thanks for sharing

Whatwhatwhat??!! Just when I thought I was aware of all the 55’s that occupied the Verde Valley, although ‘94 predates my Landcruiser obsession. Is it the same one in your avatar?
Yep. It lived With me in Sedona and Cottonwood from summer of ‘94 until summer of ‘00
