IIRC, the wire from your old starter going to the ballast resistor is meant to provide the full 12v at start up...for easier starting bla ..bla..bla...once your motor starts that circuit goes away and your coil receives power (a reduced voltage) from the ign switch via the ballast resistor. The easy fix would be to crimp on a lug connector to that wire and connect it up to the same single post on your starter.

I replaced my worn out stock starter in my 76 fj40 with a mean green gear reduction starter. The mean green only has a one wire connection however. the wire from the coil hooks up and starts it fine. I don,t know what to do with the wire from the ballast resistor which was also hooked up on the old starter. It seems like it should go somewhere. or not? Kind of afraid to drive it without knowing. Help please.
