Bullbars not bad for a factory job either.
They are the factory wheels ,right?
sure are good looking rim i think ,pitty there only 7" wide and not 8"
and they scratch pretty easy, its like a paper thin aluminium coating ,more suited to Prados
They do look nice if you want the factory bling
Im running 7inch ROH rims because I decided to stick with the 235x85x16 B/stone LT D694,perfect sand tyre. They were also the tallest in the 235 range at 32 inch.
I did the 9 mile Swamp Rd today through the Moore River National park,22klms in the sand and never needed airing down or even felt like spinning.
The rain helped a bit![]()
im always hearing older blokes that swear by the skinnys ,when my mate bought his 79 the other week with std skinny on it the places and boggy sandytracks that thing was going with hard tyres in 2wd was unreal if i was about 50 years older i would proberly run the skinnysbut as for a best fat sand tyre the best ive seen and think are the bfg A/T by far ,.hows the swamp road i have a few mates in woodrigde but have not been on this track might have to check it out next weekend if i can find it
Okay you are making us Canadians jealous.
How about convincing Toyota to market these in Canada.
Im talking about the Utes as well as the canopies
I also have a set of BFG 33X10.5X15 and they are about the same as what I have in terms of sand traction.
Its because when you deflate the tyre ,it gets longer, not wider.
I also wanted to cut down on the rolling resistance to save fuel. Not all skinnys are good in sand, the other set I have a more road biased and need a lot of deflation to make them work.
Nine Mile Swamp rd is not really a road ,its a sand track that starts at Moore River at its northern end and comes out near the Brand Hwy at its southern end
There is a swamp in the middle that has overflowed onto the track in a couple of places and is about knee deep.
I think it was a proper road once that was probably used to access some of the farms in the area in the old days.
Bits and pieces have a limestone road base ,mainly in the swampy area.
You go almost to the Moore River via Cowalla rd and turn right at Orange Springs rd and go 2 klms and turn right into Nine mile swamp rd.(Look for a Moore River National Park sign)
Check it out on Google Earth.
Its an easy drive now but would be harder in summer when the sand is loose.
Some giant roos and emus in there.
Would be great fun on a night run
Careful if you take the dog,its baited for foxes and feral cats with 1080 baits.
I posted these the other day after i went to the auctions but they got lost in the mud shut down
This canopy is def my sceenn it has the canvs and metal frame with locks under it for security this was on a hdj79 with no visible damage so i think she went for a swim and go written off
