You definitely have to keep your eye out for such things - craigslist, State surplus sales, and such. Office furniture places can be a good option because sometimes they just trash the old stuff when they sell new stuff to an office. My pallet racking was found on craigslist - they needed it gone so I paid less than $100 a section. The floor mounted lateral files someone was literally hauling them out to a dumpster as I was leaving work one day. I said if he stacked them next to the dumpster, I'd be back with my pickup. I sold the extras off for $40 each. The overhead cabinets were a State surplus sale at $20 each.
