I knew the first time I met Onur that we were of a like mind when it comes to our machines. Do it right, OEM parts, preserve the history, I first learned about these trucks a long time ago in a place called Mosul. Since then, I’ve driven them (and even rolled one, an 80 series) all around the world. In spite of its age, this Cruiser is the toughest thing on the planet period.

More progress in disassembly and cleaning...

RH front door assembly. Notice the computer logic controllers for the master power door lock as well as the master power windows.

RH rear door: was a mess. Water ingress from the gaskets created some nasty rust patches under the panel.

I cleaned those up and will be doing some localized rust prevention, priming and paint. It’s under the panels, so color isn’t key in this area.

Unfortunately no new updates besides parts procurement.

Had a bit of an “getting old” moment… thus things will be on pause for a couple of weeks.

This is uncool... though I suppose the fact you had the ability to snap a foot selfie bodes well.

Hello,

As they say, it is a terrible thing to get old.

Get well soon and take it easy.

Juan

Get well soon my friend we are to young for those kind of shenanigans.

Awesome work but I think it needs a Kaymar rear bumper also and maybe a bigger tank from a 76 ....... I might “know a guy” for those ☺️

Sorry for the belated updates as I have been super busy with competing projects getting my attention…. Curse of a one-man operation.

I’ve started plugging away at this refresh again…

We decided on a new steering gear box from Toyota since this one is super worn out…

One and done philosophy:
