Got a little work done last night on my driver's front door. I had already pulled the door off, sanded, degreased and etched. I have a crack on the door underneath the bottom hinge that I still need to weld up and grind flat before I remount the door.
I tried POR Patch for the first time and have mixed feelings. It is easy to apply but takes FOREVER to dry, is not nearly as thick as I want for it to be (I was hoping for caulk consistency) and if you apply it too thick it doesn't dry well (the top of the patch hardens and rises above the bottom of the patch and air bubbles often form.) Since the POR Patch was so thin I had to put backing behind some of the holes to keep the POR Patch from flowing through. We will have to see what happens when I try to take the backing of duct tape off.
If the POR Patch doesn't work for this application I'll weld these holes shut this weekend.
While I was waiting for the POR Patch to dry I threw a little paint on the door. Even though I was using Rustoleum rattle cans it looks pretty good for a trail Piggie. Once the glossy paint was on the door I saw a few areas that needed additional sanding so I started on those and hope to get everything finished up on this door tomorrow.
I'm taking Friday and Monday off from work to work on the Piggie and have my hopes up that I'll get the other three doors finished.
And here are some pics.
