Hi All,

I'm a new subscriber of this amazing 4x4 forum and I'd like to show you the repair of my Brazilian FJ40 which in Brazil is called "Toyota Bandeirante".

I posted some old pictures, some pictures from the delivery day and the pics I took yesterday about the repair evolution.

I hope you appreciate my jeep and maybe some day I can be riding on US because my dad and I have a dream of crossing from Brazil until Route 66 riding this jeep.

Next saturday, I gonna take more pics and I'll upload here ... I accept some tips, because I'm changing the fenders to the new tires (37")... Actually I'm using 35" R15 there.

Hi Felippe

Welcome to MUD.

Some people here don't like the word "jeep" to appear on this forum (but it doesn't bother me).

I haven't seen other owners of "Bandeirante cruisers" posting on this forum so your thread is particularly interesting to me.

But I'm not in the US ..... I'm in New Zealand.

Interesting to see that the hood has 3 hinges .. and those hinges seem lighter-weight versions compared to those found on 40-series landcruisers.

Edit: I think I must have been overindulging (ie drinking too much alcohol) when I posted this (to see three hinges when there are only two)!

Thanks for posting.

PS. Is that a diesel engine in there? Tell us more about it please.

The engine is a Diesel OM 364 (Mercedes-Benz) Turbo Intercooled with a BorgWarner Turbo with an amazing performance limited to 2 bar of turbo pressure ...the escape air system is set to 3" ...

Hi lostmarbles ....

Thanks ! Yeah it's a diesel engine ... as I described on the last post ...

I'm trying to upload more pics, but I can't because the limit ... Do you know how do this ? or how to remove a pic ? Then I can reduce the pics size and upload again ...

In Brazil we have a nice forum too (4x4 Brasil - Portal Off-Road - 4x4 Brasil) which has a amazing 4x4 knowledge sharing tool about Land cruisers and others one around the world ... Welcome to Brazil too ...

So I can I'll post more pics ..

Welcome, but I would drop the word jeep, some will give you fits over it. Mike

There is a limit on the number of pictures you can upload to ih8mud until you become a "silver star" member.

See:
IH8MUD Forum - Announcements in Forum : Toyota Tech Forums

And to become a Silver Star member you need to pay a fee.

I find the fee to be "money well spent" considering the enjoyment I get from the site and despite the US/NewZealand exchange rate being rather unfavorable for me.

And I find I can pay easily enough using "Paypal" but I'm not sure how easy that would be for you from Brazil.

Alternatively you can use a free "host site" (like photobucket) to host your pictures and just provide links to them in your posts. (But I'm not really familiar with this method right now because I haven't used it for a while.)

And thanks for the info on your engine.

I'm sure the folks in the diesel section (including me) will be keen for more photos if you become able to post them.

Cheers Felippe! Great looking truck! It is interesting to see the differences between the Bandeirante and the the 40 series that we are familiar with. Keep us up to date with your restoration! I have sent you a PM message with a question.

Best!

Pete

Hi Pete,

I answered to you by PM, ok ?! If you didn't receive, please let me know.

Cheers !

what kind of rear disc its that? look like a Toyota type or ?

And does it have a parking brake?

Hey Guys !

Yeap ! The rear disk brake is the same from the front brake, both from toyota parts ...

The parking brake on Brazilian FJ40 is on the drive shaft traction bar, not on the wheel brake system.

Hola Felipe,
After you have done 10 postings, you get more space and you can upload 3 pic's per posting.

BTW, welcome to MUD!

Hi BJ40GREEN and MAJOJO4,

Thanks !

I would appreciate to share knowledge here ...

Pete,

I didn't forget to send you the information ...

ASAP I'll send you ... Ok?

B/R ..

Interesting to see the differences between the Bandeirante panels and the Toyota panels Felippe.

(The bib panels are vastly different for example.)

But why have you patched-over where the Toyotas have their "kick vents"?

Whatever you're doing ... it's good to see that you're doing it properly. (I hate to see people pop-rivetting on patches and then using filler to create the illusion a smooth/solid panel.)

Hey man .. how u doing ?

Yeap ! It's nice to see the differences !!

I really like doing the things/transformation in a nice way...

Yes, I'm closing the kick-vents because in Brazil the Bandeirantes from 94's to 2001's don't have and I like it ..

What do y think about the new fenders?

Next thursday I gonna bring here more new pics ...

C U

Thanks !

Cheers ...
