Hi folks! I've got a 2011 LC. When I open the tailgate, I'm rewarded with a long loud beep, which is probably familiar to many of you. I think the only way to make it not happen is to leave the key in front.

The dealer couldn't quell it. Has anyone found a way to silence this horrible thing?

(On the other hand, to my surprise, the dealer was able to turn off the seatbelt chime!)

I have same thing on my '13 and never been able to figure it out... sorry

You hit the little lock/unlock button to the right of the handle underneath too. Just hit the unlock on the key fob and it stops.

happened to me numerous times.. easiest thing is to look up after you lift the tailgate and see the positon/shape of the 2 buttons to subconsciously know where it is each time you go to open it.

Long beep is triggered only when you press the lock button either on remote key or any of doors while any door or tail gate is not fully closed. To turn that off press the unlock button or it wil turn off after set time. I have turned that feature off in both corolla and tundra. There should be a way to turn the beep off using Techstream under "door" ECU. I will explore that today when I get home.

Thank you! I've got to buy you guys some internet beers.:beer::beer: You just saved me much misery. Sorry that internet beers are useless.

Yes, dealer can turn off the open door warning using techstream.

Here are screen shots showing this.

That doesn't surprise me, but I was surprised that they were willing to do it. I assumed the lawyers would freak out about it.

This open door warning (long beep for 10 seconds) is only related to the wireless door locking while any door is not completely shut. You will continue to see the warning light on instrument cluster when driving (ignition is ON) and one of the door was not shut.

BTW: I have my own Techstream software, I don't need to go the dealer to modify any of the settings.

It also beeps when you press both buttons simultaneously.

I just had this happen on my 2011 LX570, every time I opened the door I would get a 10s constant beep. It was a low battery on my keyfob.
