The 65 isn't worth anywhere near that much. The 78 is also over priced. The difference is restored it would be worth a lot more. I probably Have 99% of what is missing off either of these just to many pprojects and not enough time.

^^ nobody needs some tires? ;) make an offer! Thanks

I just bought that identical size and brand a few months ago. It's a hard to find size. That's a shame. If you are having trouble unloading them, I would love a spare, but no use splitting a set. That's a great tire.

Only worth it for smog

Not worth the price, but a 65 is exempt for the silly smog regulations for us in Pima and Maricopa.

I've paid $2k or less in the phoenix market for 3 or 4 non running FJ40s. 3 were complete enough to drive.
These 2 are piles of good solid parts, but worth about $1,000 each, maybe $1500 if there's something there you really need.
Just getting one road worthy/ legal/safe could cost you $2k in parts, so you're in $3500 to a rough fj40, which is about right.

Yeah, the years are desirable to start with, pre-smog as you mentioned and discs on the '78. But that was all I saw as worthwhile.

Mine was $3250 back in '95 and pristine with an exhaust leak.:)

Agreed. At these prices, I'd expect a driveable rig. I don't know why these two adds bug me so much. I guess I'll let it go now.

I forget about the emissions since I don't have to deal with it. The 78 would be worth more reatored than a 65. The auctions have shown that. Since I have more 40s than I need I would be interested in restoring using up my parts then selling. On the 78 I would inspected the body to see what you have to work with. We are spoiled in the southwest with all the low rust 40s. Back these might sell for that but not that easy here. Not running adds a lot to shipping so non running cruisers are a harder to sell to someone out of state.

crack kills

Everyone's selling the candyass red ones. I wonder why?

May as well add the 76 FJ40 other two cruisers. 77 http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/3777295879.html 78 http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/3777317267.html Interesting all three have under 100K miles. The 77 is still titled in the original owners name in NV. Since he has passed away I would be very careful with this one. Most states required a vehicle to have the title transfered with in a couple weeks of the sale. They also require the seller to sign it over. This is something the son should have handled and got his name on the title. Not saying it can't be done just not as easy as having a title sign over by the seller who is still alive. May even be required to go back to NV to handle it.

and on another one . . .

Not sure what your saying about the other one. Title issues? He also has a 87 FJ60. It has over 100K miles but it also has a speedo that reads 99,999.9 miles. The 76 I bought from Blair only shows 4,500 on the speedometer. No way to prove there are original miles. The floor mats don't look like they have a 104,500 miles and it is rust free. All three of the 40s appear to have rust.:meh:
